Sarah has advice on why businesses are building academies:
“Building an academy or university initiative is something that all of the world-class businesses today are doing or have done. And so many more people are taking on this approach. But it's still so new that there are not a lot of people with the experience, the knowledge, and the know-how to get it done. HubSpot Academy was incredible for the business, but it was exponentially greater for all of the people who went through our training. They were able to level up for free, get promotions, and change jobs.”
Sarah also talked about advising others on how to be successful:
“I believe one of the most impactful things you can do to be successful is to have a mentor. Find your own council of experts or your own go-to group of people that you turn to when you have business questions or career-related questions. Having people that have done this before or are doing it at the same time as you is a fantastic way to learn. Also, read a ton of books and blogs of people that you’d like to emulate in some capacity.”
Sarah also shared how B2B companies can learn from the user experiences B2C companies create for their customers:
“It's important to not get overwhelmed. Don't focus on the gap from where you are to where you want to go. Keep in mind the gains you're making. Look back every 90 days and think about what you're proud of as a team or as a company. The gains can propel you to narrow the gaps. ”
